Last week we discovered a crime scene under the shelter outside of our classroom. We used magnifying glasses to investigate the crime scene and to look for clues. We wrote Police Reports listing the evidence and made predictions about who might have crashed the broom stick. After speaking to the witnesses (the cat, dog, frog and bird) we found out that the Witch who was flying the broom stick was missing.

The next day we wrote ‘Missing’ posters for the Witch using adjectives to describe her. We used our Reading skills to follow some written clues and found the Witch in a Dragon’s Cave! We rescued the Witch and settled down to read ‘Room on the Broom’ by Julia Donaldson. The story explained what had happened to the Witch. We loved listening out for rhyming words and joining in with the repeated parts of the story.
