40 Acts
40 Acts is a generosity challenge we are completing in school and allows us to do Lent a bit differently. Lent is a tradition that reminds us of the forty days Jesus spent in the desert, preparing for his ministry on earth where he would ultimately give himself as a sacrifice.
Lent finishes at Easter every year, so many Christians use the Lent period to spend time reflecting on Jesus’s death and resurrection.
Traditionally we mark Lent by giving something up but this year we are aiming to give something back. All of our children have been invited to take part in fairly simple acts of generosity which will challenge them to ‘do Lent generously’ in 2019.
Small acts of generosity, performed by thousands of people across the UK and beyond, have the power to make a positive change within our communities and, ultimately, to our world.
Being generous towards each other is also a great way of demonstrating the Christian value of love. Jesus showed his love by making the ultimate sacrifice and giving his life for all of us.
have attached a copy of the challenge card to the reverse of this letter so that you can see the acts of generosity that your child is being encouraged to complete.
There is also a family version of the 40 Acts that you can complete together at home. This is available on the school website and can also be found at www.40acts.org.uk.
I hope that all the children will enjoy completing the 40 Acts and that you enjoy hearing about them or even taking part yourself.
Best Wishes
