Thursday Literacy

Please listen to this story. It is called Amazing Aeroplanes. It is a rhyming story. That means lots of the words rhyme. They sound the same.

Today I’d like you to make some rhyming word cards. Write one word on each card. Here are some examples of rhyming pairs you could use.

rock/sock

hat/cat

dog/log

moon/spoon

ted/bed

leg/peg

ham/jam

You and your child could share out the writing. Talk about the words rhyming which means they sound the same. Show your child the end part of each word and point out that the words end with the same letters, so they sound the same.

Turn all the word cards face down on the table or floor. Take it in turns to try and find a rhyming pair.
