Ice Cream Playdough!

Make some playdough with your child, using the following recipe. Before you add any food colouring, split the dough into three batches.

Ingredients
2 cups of water (1 cup is approximately 8oz or 230ml)
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
1 cup of salt
2 tablespoons Cream of Tartar
2 cups of plain flour.

Optional – A few drops of pink food colouring, hot chocolate powder, Vanilla essence

Method
Put all the ingredients except the flour into a large saucepan. Heat gently until the mixture is warm. Removed from the heat, stir in the flour. Tip the mixture out wait for it to cool and knead until the mixture becomes dough like.

Add pink food dye to the first batch of playdough, hot chocolate powder to the second and vanilla essence to the third.

This ice cream playdough could be used with spoons and cones (real or paper). Perhaps your child could play ice cream shops. Can they take orders for family members and write them down? Can they write prices for the ice creams and pay for them using pennies?
