Stiperstones’ Stunning Start

With the start of a new half term, we have introduced our new topic. This half term we will studying a unit of work called ‘Alchemy Island’.

On Monday we had a visit from the Alchemist, who gave us a riddle, map and told us to enter Alchemy Island through the magical portal.
Before going through the portal we needed to decipher the riddle to find out starting position on the map.

The riddle was written in Old English, the children had to use dictionaries, to help the find the meanings of words and phases they were unsure of.

Now it was time to step foot through the portal.

Once on Alchemy Island we needed a key to help us read the map given to us by the Alchemist.

Our first mission, was to help the citizens of Ancient Citdel. Their drinking water from the bottomless well had become contaminated. The Alchemist gave us the challenge of decontaminating the water, in reward for a set of coordinates.

Stiperstones made filtration systems, using a plastic bottle, coffee filter paper, rocks and sand, to try to filter the contaminated water.

The citizens of Ancient Citdel were very happy. In return for Stiperstones helping the citizens of Ancient Citdel decontaminate their water. Stiperstones were rewarding a set of coordinates.

Stiperstones spent the afternoon, plotting the coordinates on their maps, to discover the route they are to take on Alchemy Island.

Our journey from The City of Ancient Citdel will commence on Monday.
