Thursday 14th January 2021. Literacy Home Learning for Clee Class and Earls Hill Reception (Cygnets)

Good morning children and families!

Today we are continuing our Literacy work about ‘What We’ll Build’ by Oliver Jeffers.

Here is the story read by Miss Wright if you would like to listen to it again:

Today we are going to be looking at the page in the book where the little girl and the man build a house. On the house is the red door which we talked about yesterday. The story reads ‘We’ll build a house, to be our home.’

What We'll Build: plans for Our Together Future: The breathtaking new companion to international bestseller Here We Are: Amazon.co.uk: Jeffers, Oliver, Jeffers, Oliver: Books

Talk to your grown up about the house. What can you see?

I can see that the house has lots of windows in it. I can also see a chimney and some steps leading from outside up to the red door. Did you notice anything else? Is the house the same or different to your house or your home? What is the same? What is different?

I live in a house; I call it my home. My house is joined onto one more house; it’s called a semi-detached house. I don’t have as many windows as the one in the book and I have a white door. I’ve drawn a picture of my house:

I would like you to draw a picture of your house. I would also like you to label some of the things on your house like I have:

I would love to see some photographs of your picture of your house; remember to write your name on it!

I would like you to read a book from Bug Club and practise reading the red tricky words from your pack.
