Our Week in Clee

What a wonderful week we’ve had in Clee.

In Maths we have been continuing our Mastering Number learning. We have been subitising and saying what we see and how we see it when looking at different items including the number 4 Numberblock:

In Literacy we introduced our focus book ‘I’m going to eat this Ant’ by Chris Naylor-Ballesteros. We looked at the front cover and the back cover and predicted what would happen; the children’s fantastic ideas were recorded on a story pathway. Our Literacy activities included rolling the dice and sounding the animal words and finding the animal in a basket. We also used the Beebots to program instructions for it to move to a picture or CVC word. We were able to say the initial sounds or blend the sounds and say the word:

Some of our LEX time activities extended the children’s interests we have observed during the week. These included making fires and then putting them out, making potions and much more:

On Friday we learned about Remembrance Day. We talked about why we wear a poppy, some of the children tried on Armed Forces uniforms, we watched a video about Remembrance Day and we observed 2 minutes silence with the rest of school:

A big thank you to everyone who sent in photos of firework displays and photos of the children and where they live.

Next week alongside our Maths and Literacy learning we will be joining in World Nursery Rhyme week. Each day we will be learning a different nursery rhyme and joining in exciting activities. The rhymes are:

  • The Big Ship Sails On the Ally Ally Oh.
  • 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Once I caugth a Fish Alive.
  • Five Little Speckled Frogs.
  • Bingo (Was His name-O)
  • Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Meddins and Mrs Owen.
