Our week in Clee

We have another fantastic, busy week in Clee.

As well as the learning below we have also been practising for our ‘Carols around the Tree’ concert. We are very much looking forward to performing our carol to our families.

This week our learning has included planning and making traps to catch the anteater from our focus book ‘I’m going to eat this ant’.

We finished our Literacy focus with a Beautiful Bug Ball. The children looked fantastic dressed in their bug costumes and we had a lovely day doing many craft activities, dancing, moving like bugs and finishing with some food and drinks:

Winter-Iris showed the children and Mr Morgan her minibeast home learning project:

On Tuesday we had a fantastic time with the rest of the school watching Aladdin (Oh yes we did!). The children really got involved in the pantomime by shouting the appropriate phrases, booing the baddy, dancing and singing:

On Thursday 1st December we had a parcel delivered to the classroom……it was an elf with a letter from the North Pole. The elf needed a name and so everyone wrote down what they thought the elf should be called. We put the names in a pot and drew out four. These four names were each put in a corner of the classroom and the children stood by the name they liked best. The winning name was ‘Santa Claus’.

We also started our advent calendar; each day the special helper will find the numbered pocket and get the treat inside.

We also introduced a Christmas countdown calendar which shows us how many sleeps until Christmas. We placed a counter on each day on the day from 1st to 25th December; these were then transferred onto five frames. Each day we will discuss how the five frames have changed and what we can see:

Here are some of the activities the children have been doing during LEX time:

We finished off the week by using our Advent stable and characters to tell the Christmas story:
