Values champions 🎉🎊Faith and Belief

Last half term, as a whole school we focused on the Christian Values ‘Faith and Belief’. At the end of each half term, a child from every class is selected to be our values champion, this is because they displayed faith and belief throughout the half term.

Well done all to all the children who were awarded the values champion certificate and cross badge. Here are a few champions:

This half term we are focusing on ‘Justice and Humility’.

Spellings

For our spellings this week, we will be looking at the key vocabulary linked to our new topic  Urban Pioneers. The children have been asked to look up the word using a Dictionary or Google, find the definition and understand what it means and if they can find an example. Then as a cheeky challenge put the key word into a sentence.

The lovely Medusa / Lola Rae Williams

Lol has had a wonderful week- first she came
dressed as Medusa and took on the role beautifully. She has a positive attitude to school and was a great participant on the day trying all different types of food. She is passionate about the topic and always is enthusiastic about her learning. What a fantastic finish for Lola

Also a huge well done to Miley and Henrik for achieving their swimming certificates. Super stars 🐟 🌟

Fantastic Finish – Greek Day 🇬🇷🍇

Can I just say a huge thank you to all parents , carers and children in Long Mynd for the fantastic effort for today’s Greek Day!!

Please click link to see our video of the day:  IMG_8978

What a fantastic day had by all for our fantastic finish Greek Day. We danced the morning away with the Zorba, tasted Greek food, made a Greek salad and Moussaka, pressed and made wine (grape juice). For the afternoon session, we focused on the Greek artist Douris and  decorated Greek pots with a meander and Zeus prints with paint.

And finally our book as the hook this half term is called ‘ Welcome to Silver Street Farm’. Each child will be encouraged to read the book as part of a whole class, group, paired or 1-1 read.

Summary:

Some animal farms are up in the hills, or down winding lanes. But Silver Street Farm is different – it’s in the middle of a city, and it’s run by kids!

Even though Meera, Gemma, and Karl live in the city, they’ve always wanted a farm of their own. And it looks as though their dream may happen sooner than they imagined when Meera discovers an abandoned railway station with grounds for grazing. Next, some eggs they thought were foul hatch into ducklings, and a couple of “poodles” bought off the Internet turn out to be lambs. There’s just one problem: how can the kids – and the community – persuade the city council not to turn the old site into a parking garage? The first in a series of fun-filled stories about Silver Street Farm, here is a tale with natural appeal for kids who love animals, aim to be green, and enjoy a do-it yourself.

I am also attaching a list of home learning ideas you are welcome to do in your spare time to help you with the unit:
