Dear Parent/Carer,
PARENT LAC MEMBER ELECTION
I am writing to you to invite you to stand for election as a parent LAC Member, or nominate another parent to do so. In our academy we have provision for 3 parent LAC Member(s) and there is/are currently one vacancy/vacancies.
The local academy committee, with the principal, has overall responsibility for the running of the academy. The LAC have three core strategic functions:
No special qualifications are necessary but it is essential that you have a desire to improve outcomes for every child at Holy Trinity. We expect the successful candidate to have a keen interest in the daily life of our school and be prepared to play an active part in the work of the Local Academy Committee. However, we would particularly welcome nominations from parents with the following skills SEN or English as an additional language. Training is available for all LAC Members and this local academy committee has an expectation that those new to being a LAC member, attend induction training.
The enclosed sheet summarises the circumstances under which someone cannot serve as a LAC member (Appendix 1). In addition, parents/carers who have paid employment in the academy for 500 or more hours per academic year or who are elected members of the Local Authority are not eligible to stand in these elections. Nominations must be from parents or carers with children at the school on the day that nominations close.
If you would like to stand for election please complete the enclosed nomination form and return it to the academy no later than 19th March. You may also include a short personal statement to support your nomination, which should be no longer than 250 words. Self-nominations will be accepted but if you are nominating another parent, please seek their prior consent.
If there are more nominations than vacancies, the election will be by secret ballot. If that is necessary, voting papers will be sent to all parents together with details of the ballot procedure.
Yours faithfully,
Mr R Dickson
Principal.

World Book Day is going to look a little bit different this year, however, we are going to make sure it is just as much fun! We know how much you love books and reading and think it is particularly important for us all to celebrate World Book Day. We are planning lots of exciting and engaging activities based on our favourite books and authors during the week starting 1st March. Our whole school book will be ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’.
There will be daily Zoom reading sessions with different adults working at Holy Trinity. Teachers will also be talking about their favourite books and authors and we would like to challenge you to record a short video talking about your favourite book and send it to us.
On Thursday 4th March the children who are in school will take part in an online author roadshow which will be recorded and a link sent out to all of the families working from home so that everyone can enjoy listening to some of their favourite authors.
We would like to invite you to join us all in dressing up as your favourite character on World Book Day. There is no need to buy anything special for this, all you need is your imagination! We will be having Zoom sessions during the day so that we can see each other’s costumes, I wonder how many different characters we will see?
Finally, you will be sent a digital World Book Day token which can be used to buy an exclusive World Book Day book from your local bookshop between 18th February and 28th March 2021.
Thank you for your support,
Miss Wright (English Lead)
