Storytelling week in Earls Hill

It has been yet another exciting week in Earls Hill. Daily story times have been a little bit different this week; different members of staff from the Academy had read to the children which has been really enjoyable.

On Friday it was NSPCC Number day, the children took part in lots of number based activities and really enjoyed showing off their fantastic outfits. We would like to thank parents and carers for their support. Below are a few pictures from the day:

Here are a few more highlights from our week:

Happy New Year Earls Hill

It has been wonderful to welcome the children back after the Christmas break, they have been full of enthusiasm and eager to get started.

We have been learning about seasonal change this week, the children have been thinking about how the weather affects the natural world. They have enjoyed creating collages to show what trees might look like during different seasons.

Below are just a few photographs from the last few days:

The children are very excited about ‘Welly Wednesday’ next week. They can’t wait to explore our forest area and take part in the activities planned. Can you please send ‘outdoor’ clothes and wellies/boots into school each Wednesday morning in a bag labelled with your child’s name. They are likely to get muddy, which is all part of the experience!

Thank you again for your support.

Our busy week in Earls Hill

After yet another busy week in Earls Hill, here are a few of our highlights.

The children have been incredibly busy this week, they have completed their DT project; designing and making puppets, creating  Advent wreaths, holding their Nativity celebration party and performing ‘Carols around the tree’ for parents and carers.

We would all like to thank you all for braving the wintery weather and helping to make our ‘Carols around the tree’ such a special and memorable occasion.

Our week in Earl’s Hill

We have had another busy week in Earls Hill. The children have been preparing for our ‘Carols around the Tree’ concert and are very excited about performing for parents and carers.

This half term we have been finding out about humans and other animals. The children have been particularly interested in finding out about what different animals eat and have spent some time looking at different animal teeth. This week the children have made animal teeth out of clay and there has been lots of talk about the different types of teeth and how they relate to different diets. Here are a few highlights:

The Year 1 children have really enjoyed their lessons with The Wright Way and their warm up session this week was led by our Holy Trinity Play Leaders which was a huge success:

The children have been designing a puppet with Mr Morgan and their creations are looking fantastic.

Can I ask that your child brings their book to school every day so that we are able to read with your child. Book will be changed every Friday. Thank you for your continued support.

Our week in Earls Hill

A huge well done to Layla, our Star of the week. We are all very proud of you.

It has been yet another busy week in Earls Hill. The children are really enjoying our class text: Nibbles the Book Monster by Emma Yarlett! We have been talking about our favourite books and authors.

We have been busy learning our class song ready to sing to parents and carers around the Christmas tree next week. We hope you will be able to join us.

The children have been doing further research into different animals and their diets. They have been sorting and categorising animals according to whether they are mammals, reptiles, fish, amphibians or birds and finding our more about their diets.

We have also been thinking about how children change and grow. The class have been talking about their  own experiences when they were babies and toddlers.

Lastly, the children have been working really hard in their phonics groups and we have been very impressed with the progress they have made. If you would like any more information about how Phonics is taught at Holy Trinity then take a look at our parent information page under the ‘Reading’ tab on our website.

Friday was Children in Need day. We talked about what Children in Need does and found out a little bit about how some families had benefited from the Children in Need Charity. They enjoyed dressing up and taking part in lots of Children in Need activities.

As always at Holy Trinity, we all love a story!
