VE Day music activity

VE Day – or Victory in Europe Day – commemorates the surrender of Nazi Germany in World War Two in 1945. Held on May 8th, commemorations honouring war veterans are held across the UK.

This year is the 75th anniversary of VE Day and Bring the Noise has collaborated with the National Memorial Arboretum for a special activity plan that reflects the spirit of the event.

The Arboretum, which is the UK’s year-round centre of Remembrance says that “returning home” is one of the major themes explored during the day; and as such our activity plan is based around the song Take You Home .

Take You Home lyrics

There’s music in your ears, wherever you shall go
The crashing of the waves, on the seashore
There’s music in your ears, wherever you shall go
Listen to the beat of your heart, it’ll take you home
Home, home

All around the world, hear the clashing of the drums
Ready for the show, the trumpets they become
Alive in the moment, captured in a song
Oh what a time to be alive, everybody we are one

If you’re somebody who loves then you’re somebody my friend
Oh won’t you sing it again

There’s music in your ears, wherever you shall go
The crashing of the waves, on the seashore
There’s music in your ears, wherever you shall go
Listen to the beat of your heart, it’ll take you home
Home, home

It’ll take you home
Home, home
