Holy Trinity celebrate British Science Week 2022
Today, Holy Trinity celebrated the start of British Science Week. Each class are participating in their own exciting growth activities.Clee started to talk about ideas and what growth meant to them today. I have seen some wonderful seed planting in Earls Hill and beans are growing in Wrekin Class. Caradoc are going to be looking at the tadpoles growing in Mrs Morgan’s pond via video and pictures. Longmynd will be investigating plants and their functions, whilst Ercall and Hawkstone are investigating the effect of sound on the growing of cress seeds. Stiperstones are looking at the size of planets and will be investigating the growth of crators. Finally, Haughmond will be investigating the growth of mould and bacteria and the growth of penguins in the Antarctic.
In assembly this morning, we learnt about how growth can be explored in so many different ways, as well as the definition of growth – Growth can mean the process of increasing in size or the progressive development of something.
Each class have been given their own sunflower seed and we will be having a school competition to see which class can grow the tallest sunflower.
The children will hopefully have come home with competition details today on designing their own posters on anything to do with growth. The posters will be judged at school and the there will be one winner awarded to each class with a prize and then the winners will be put forward to a national competition. Entries need to be into school by Tuesday 12th April. Here is the link for more details on the competition.: britishscienceweek.org/ plan-your-activities/poster-competition
Have fun with your wonderful competition ideas. I can’t wait to see them.

School Council Spread Hope from each class -around the Christmas Tree.
We have been busy in the classrooms this week, thinking about messages of HOPE which is the golden thread to all our Christian Values at Holy Trinity.
We discussed messages of Hope and voted for one in each class. We will be writing our individual messages of hope and displaying them in our main hall in the New Year.
SchoolCouncil then collected the messages of hope that had been made into Christmas baubles and placed them around our beautiful Christmas tree.
We HOPE you enjoy reading our messages.

Whole School Giant Jump Science Investigation
Hi Everyone – Mrs Platt here!
Hope you are all enjoying the snow and staying safe.
I would love for us all to do a science investigation together. You know how much I love Science? I hear you have all started learning about Giants and may have heard the Biblical story of David and Goliath?
I would like you to know who is the giant in your family and whether they can actually jump the furthest distance? Are your legs longer than your mum’s or sister’s? Who has the longest legs in your family? How are you going to measure them?
To follow the assignment – click on the picture to see it clearly.
This link below can show you all the steps involved.

I can’t wait to see your results. Send them to your teacher so that we can see who the giant is – in your family and who can jump the furthest distance. I am going to make a giant display back at school for you all to see when you return.
Good luck!
Your Science Badge is waiting for you!
Hi Everyone
Hope you enjoyed watching and taking part in some of the Great Science Share videos and investigations from yesterday. If you didn’t have time yesterday- I know your teachers have been setting lots of exciting activities for you at home.
We would love you all to fill in the simple form attached by pressing the link below. https://static1.squarespace.com/static/587f5ff0cd0f68e84c525083/t/5ee8a33299a4dd47c9d4d621/1592304443507/Scientist+form+GSS+with+links+and+form+fields+2020.pdf
Just simply write down your question that you have been investigating at home and your results. Fill in the details and you could be sent your special science badge. You only need to write a couple of sentences in each box. We are unable to do this for you, as your parents need to fill in their details.
We would love you all to receive a badge. Good luck super scientists!!!
The Great Science Share.
Good morning Everyone – I hope you are all well.
Today is the Great Science Share – a chance to share any of the fantastic Science that you have been doing at home.
All the teachers have been sending home different science activities for you to complete and take part in.
We are hoping now, that we can share all of this great science amongst our community and with your teachers.
Could you please send us a picture with a question of what you have been investigating. (either via Dojo or on email to your class teacher) If we submit these photographs – you can win a badge. We also get put into a big prize draw as well as sharing all the wonderful science work you are completing at home.
An example may be: Who can blow the longest bubble? Did the material make a difference? Did the bottle used make a difference?
You could also share your results if you wish.
You can look at https://www.greatscienceshare.org/#about-1for more ideas.
We can’t wait to see your pictures.
Thanks so much and keep safe xx
