All children have taken an accelerated reader test this week which tests reading and comprehension. If your child finishes their reading book they are able to take a test on this at home. Follow the link Welcome to Renaissance Place (renlearn.co.uk) and enter the log on details which are stuck on the ‘notes’ page of your child’s reading diary (their full name is not the username). If you then click ‘Accelerated Reader’ you can then search for the name of the book and take a test. If a test is passed, when the book is brought back to school it can be changed for a new one!

TTRockstars is an online maths website which aims at increasing times table fluency Times Tables Rock Stars: Play (ttrockstars.com) The password and username for your child is again stuck in the notes page of their reading record. Practising on this website is extra helpful for multiplication tests in Year 4 (some children may know their times tables, however their recall speed needs to increase as the test has a time limit)

If you are having any trouble with accessing either site, please just let me know!

Please see an email which went out on parentpay explaining some choir and recorder clubs taking place during lunch times.

If your child would like to take part in one of these clubs, please print off the return slip and send it back into class filled out. If you do not have a printer, please let me know via dojo and I can print one off in school!

What a first week!

Our first week back in Ercall has been a lovely one. We have began practicing our times tables in maths, started our new English unit and book ‘Seal Surfer’ by Michael Foreman, and started looking at the rainforest in Geography among many other activities.

Please note, that we will be doing a PE lesson on Monday so please ensure PE kits are sent in and long hair is tied up.

Next week we will be starting our place value unit in maths, alongside our Science (all living things and their habitats) and learning some French as well. We will also have some spellings and homework sent home next Friday, which will be uploaded to our class page.

I am so impressed by the children’s effort this week – they have all worked so hard and shown fantastic behaviour across the school. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and will see everyone on Monday. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please feel free to pop me a message on dojo!

Hello all,

Today a letter went home about our bikeability training. This will be taking place on the 31st October – 3rd November in school. This is free of charge and provided by Learn cycle. It is aimed at increasing children’s independence, confidence and safety when on a bike. Please feel free to check out the course providers website www.bikeability.org.uk for more information.

Please ensure that if you would like your child to attend you;

• Return the permission slip ASAP, but no later than the 15th October.
• You are able to bring a roadworthy bike to school on those dates
• You are able to bring a helmet to school on those dates
