It’s beginning to look like Christmas in Haughmond
December has arrived and we have put up the Christmas tree and are getting into the Christmas spirit.
We have enjoyed making some stained glass windows which reflected in our RE learning ~ looking at are through religious education, we focussed on the Christmas theme.
We continued to work on our chassis for our moving vehicles and this week attached our wheels to an axil.
Finally, we are still enjoying our Music on Jazz and our work on Web pages in ICT

Year 6 attend Lifeline 2023 and learn some essential skills for their future.
Year 6 attended Lifeline on Friday, where they learnt how to keep themselves safe in different situations. They learnt about road safety, first aid, safety at the sea side, the farm, the railway, drugs, cycling, internet and so much more. This day is sponsored by the Rotary Club and we would like to thank them all for a wonderful day.
Thank you also to Thomas Ethelston’s mum for volunteering to come with us.
Well done to George, Connie, Miguel, Florence,Jamie,Raahith and AJ who came first place for their team work.
A Royal Seal of Approval
Last term Clee class were very busy making a present for King Charles for his Coronation. As part of their Literacy topic they had been reading a book called ‘The Kings Pants’ and they all thought it was a good idea to send some new pants to the new King!
So, they busied themselves, decorated and coloured in some new pants for the King and parceled them up ready to post.
Mrs Meddins then escorted a handful of Clee class representatives to the local post office. The lady in the post office helped the children to weigh their parcel and gave them a label.
This week we had a VERY SPECIAL delivery from Buckingam Palace.
The King sent a very special letter of thanks to the children of Clee Class for their colourful pants and very kind letter. The children have all been so excited to receive this special letter from the palace, we have given all the children a copy.
Reception Class children
Do you have a child starting reception class?
If so, your child will be participating in the reception baseline assessment (RBA)
within the frst 6 weeks of starting reception. The purpose of the assessment
is to provide the starting point for a progress measure that will help parents
understand how well schools support their pupils to progress between reception
and year 6.
2023 Information for parents: reception baseline assessment (publishing.service.gov.uk)
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to speak to Miss Wright, Mrs Meddins or Mrs Rhodes-Leader.

Year 6 Leaver’s Service Hopes and Dreams
It was a very emotional service as Year 6 shared their memories and their hopes and dreams for the future. We also said thank you and goodbye to our long standing Chair of Governors Mr Chris Harris and our Executive Headteacher ~Mrs Holmes.
We are extremely proud of all our year 6 and their achievements from this year. We would like to wish them every success in their future.
Year 6 enjoyed their treat at Lazer Quest
All the hard work of the Fiver Challenge finally paid off. Year 6 had an amazing time at Lazer Quest with ice creams to finish off with.
The Fiver Challenge has been a huge success
Thank you to everyone for their support with this year’s Fiver Challenge.2023
The children have been extremely busy baking cookies, brownies, cakes, muffins and flapjacks as part of their technology project but also working out the ingredients using ratio and proportion in order to make enough for the whole school. They have made jewellery, painted pictures, made milkshakes and sold ice creams and ice pops.
Miss Richards and I have been so proud of them all and they finally made enough money for a brilliant afternoon at Laser Quest and had ice creams of their choice whilst there.
