Whole school Collective Worship – Perseverance
Good morning, so it is our fourth and final instalment of our whole school collective worship, please feel free to share with your children at home or in class.
This week the focus is Perseverance.
2 Chronicles 15:7
“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.â
As we develop this week’s value of ‘perseverance’ as a school community, we will consider the following:
- How are we encouraged and given skills to persevere through difficult times?
- How does our learning and teaching encourage and motivate children and adults alike?
- Do we all understand that hard work and perseverance in all aspects of our lives is worth the effort?
A Christian Perspective on Perseverance:
Jesus frequently encouraged his disciples to âendure patientlyâ the difficulties and obstacles they encountered and to persevere in the face of adversity. He himself trusted in God even when his enemies tried to stop his work and plotted his death.
Please click the link for information and a worksheet on Perserverence –Â perseverance
Please have a go at the Growtrh Mindset learning zone and see what pushes you to out of your comfort zone. This activity is fort you to discuss where you feel comfortable with an activity and where you push yourself, never give up, persevere to achieve what you want. Comfort zoneÂ
E.G I feel comfortable writing sentences with capital letters and full stops I am in my danger zone when asked to write sentences with expanded noun phrases .
E.G I am in my comfort zone when kicking a ball, I am in the danger zone when asked to go in goal.
We have a wonderful video from Holy Trinity Church for you to watch: â https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bt5VYWoIL6Y1dYqUnTehkR_ArDKX3aLt/view please click the link. Within the video we focus on the âThe Parable of the Lost Sheepâ which appears in Luke 15: 3-7
I have included two songs for you to listen to the lyrics focusing on never giving up: –
Inspirational people who never gave up!
Walt Disney – Disney was turned down 302 times before he got his dream of creating âthe happiest place on Earthâ, better known today as Disneyland.
Michael Jordan – Â Jordan is widely considered to be the greatest basketball player of all time, however he was cut from his high school varsity basketball team during his sophomore year. That only inspired him to work harder.
In his words: âI have missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. I have failed over and over and over again in my life and thatâs precisely why I succeed.â
 Let us pray :-
Lord Jesus,
When I feel worried about facing a new challenge, help me to persevere. When the going gets tough, help me to persevere. when I feel like giving up, help me to persevere.
Amen.
THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
Stiperstones Superstar đ
Our Star of The Week this week is… Cody Penney.
Cody is Star of the Week for his amazing writing. He really impressed myself and Mrs Platt, Â with his Kensuke Kingdom writing. I have also been very impressed with the level of maturity Cody is now showing towards his learning and the decisions he is making.
Whole School Collectible Worship – Forgiveness
Whole school collective worship â Forgiveness
Good morning, so it is our third installment of our whole school collective worship, please feel free to share with your children at home or in class.
This week the focus is Forgiveness.
A Christian Perspective:
Forgiveness is the means by which damaged relationships are restored. It is an act of the will, motivated by love.
For Christians, Jesusâ death on a cross it the ultimate revelation of Godâs all forgiving love, and his sacrifice stands a source of inspiration to forgive others, no matter what the cost.
Luke 6:37 – Do no judge and you will not be judged. Do not condemn and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven.
We have a wonderful video from Holy Trinity Church for you to watch: â https://youtu.be/FpgNeZLLNEg please click the link. Within the video we focus on the ‘The Parable of the Lost Coin’ which appears in Luke 15:8â10.
As a school, over the next two weeks we unpicking Jonah and the Whale from the old testament. We will  focus on the importance of saying sorry and asking forgiveness.
Talk together about:
-A time when you needed to say sorry
-A time you didnât say sorry but wish you had
-A time when you had to forgive someone who had hurt or upset you
-How it feels when you are given a new start because someone has forgiven you

Prayer –
Dear Lord,
Thank you that you offer us forgiveness to all through Jesus. Sorry for the times when we have been slow to say sorry to others or not quick enough to forgive.
Please help us to ask for forgiveness when we make a mistake and accept our apology kindly.
Amen

Thursday Learning
It’s World Book Day.
Today, we are celebrating World book day which is a very important day dedicated to all the amazing books that are available for us to read. This day allows us to be able to share our love of reading and our different favourite books that may inspire others to also enjoy our favourite stories.
Today also gives us the chance to have fun dressing up as our favourite characters from these books so you can also dress up at home if you wanted to. It would be lovely if you could upload some photos to class dojo of you in your World book day costumes or a short written piece or video of you describing your favourite book.
Our afternoon lessons will be dedicated to celebrating World book day so we have some fun activities planned for you.
I look forward to seeing all your wonderful outfits and hearing about your favourite books.

Afternoon World book day lesson:
For World book day, we are studying the book ‘The day the pencils quit’ by Oliver Jeffers. The video of the book is available for you to listen to below.
Instead of studying this book as it is, we are going to be doing a slightly different activity this afternoon for year 5 and 6 that adds an exciting twist to this story.
Like the pencils in the story, the chairs in Stiperstones and Haughmond have had enough in our classroom’s today and decided to riot and leave our classrooms. They have written some very interesting letters to our class, detailing their reasons for leaving. You must read these letters carefully and try to encourage the chairs to come back to class by writing a persuasive reply to their letters.
Click the link below to access today’s PowerPoint that will guide you through our afternoon session.
You can also access some extra activities by clicking the link below you could complete throughout the day as well like making yourself a bookmark or creating a book cover inspired by your favourite book.
I hope you have a lovely time completing our World book day activities.

Whole school collective worship – SERVICE
âThere is more happiness in giving than in receivingâ
Good morning, so it is our second installment of our whole school collective worship, please feel free to share with your children at home.
This week the focus is Love and Service.
Jesus was called the âservant kingâ: we are learning that his mission was to serve God and to serve all those people he met, through his teaching, his example and the way he led his life.
Hall of fame-
JK Rowling is best known for writing the Harry Potter novels. She was awarded the OBE for âservices to childrenâs literatureâ. She used some of the money she had earned from her books to create a charity called The Lumos Foundation. This charity has changed the lives of orphaned children in Eastern Europe.
LOVE – 1 Corinthians 13:4-5
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it doe not boast, it is not proud.
SERVICE – Matthew 5:42
Learn to generously share what you have with those who ask for help and don’t close your heart to the ones who comes to you to borrow from you.
