Expressive Art and Design  – Use a cardboard tube, foil, coloured paper and glue or pens to make a rocket. Work on that countdown from 20 to 0 and ‘blast off!’

 

Knowledge and Understanding of the World – Watch a clip showing the moon landing (link below). What do the children think it would be like on the moon? Can they walk as if they are on the moon? If they have access to a sand pit or sand tray ask them to create a moon landscape. Look at for the moon at night – what does it look like? What shape it is?

Use fruit to create a fruit rocket!

More Maths – Use the cardboard shapes or cut out more to make a rocket. Discuss the different shapes and their properties (sides, corners etc.)
