Today your child will need about 10 of their tricky word cards. You will also need to have written these words out again on separate pieces of card or paper. Choose some words your child is very confident with and some they are less sure of. Place the cards you have written face up in a line across a table or on the floor.

Place the matching red tricky word cards face down. Ask your child to turn over a card and read the word. They then match it up to the new word cards you have made, making a matching pair.

Challenge your child to use this word verbally in a sentence. If they want to, they could try to write this sentence out.
