Tuesday 12th January Literacy – Earls Hill Swans (Year 1)

Please listen to the story again.

Yesterday we thought about the tools in the story. Look at this slide. It shows some of the tools being used. Can you remember what they are making in this part of the story?

That’s right, they build a door.

This makes me wonder – where might the door lead to?

Perhaps a magical forest…

Maybe a land made of ice cream!

Perhaps it will lead to outer space…

Or onto a race track with fast cars whizzing by!

Use your imagination. Where do you think the door might lead? Today I’d like you to create a plan of where you think the door leads. Draw a picture of this place on a piece of paper. Around the paper, write lots of adjectives (describing words) to say what the place is like.

I would love the door to open onto a warm sunny beach. This is what my work looks like.

Tomorrow we are going to use our ideas plan and adjectives to write some sentences about where we imagine the door leads to.

Please also complete some pages in the original phonics workbooks if you still have some to so.

Practise the new spelling words and read a Bug Club book.
