Haughmond have had a busy Autumn term. All children have made a fantastic start to Y6, there has been lots of wonderful writing produced, tricky calculations solved, scientific investigations explored, sports events participated in, beautiful art work created and much, much more.
The children have thrived in all areas of the curriculum, from playing tag rugby with the Wright Way Group to writing heart felt letters, based on our Topic (The Titanic). Y6 have been excellent role models this term, from baking and hosting the McMillan Coffee Morning to representing the school outstandingly whilst on their trip to the Maritime Museum in Liverpool. Not to forget, they have made an outstanding start to their SATs preparation, with their hard work, positive attitudes and determination.
They have had a busy December, getting into the festive spirt; by rehearsing for the KS2 church service and Golden Oldie afternoon. They have explored many different artistic and computing skills, by creating Christmas cards on the computers, making Christmas decorations out of recycled newspaper/ magazines and making calendars using oil pastels.
Their hard work for the term was rewarded by being crowned the champions of the annual whole school Christmas song competition.
Finally, I would just like to reiterate, what a fantastic first term of Y6 we have had, all children need a well-deserved break.
Wishing everyone in Haughmond a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎄🥳
