Monday 8th June Home Learning

Good morning Lawley!

I hope you are all well and have had a good, safe weekend. Here are our home learning activities for today.

Reading and phonics
Please complete your daily reading and a book review so I can see what you are enjoying about your book. Next, please take part in the Read Write Inc Set 3 Phonics Session on YouTube. After this please have a game of Buried Treasure on the Phonics Play website, revising all phase 2 sounds.

English Home Learning

This week we are going to be focusing on bubbles as this is our theme in school.  We are going to start today by watching a video called Bubbles.

https://www.literacyshed.com/bubbles.html

Today I would like you to imagine you are the girl floating on the bubbles.  I want you to think about your senses and feelings:

  • How do you feel?
  • What can you see?
  • What can you hear?
  • What can you smell?
  • What can you feel?
  • What can you taste?

If it helps, watch the video again to look closely at what the girl is experiencing.  Your task is write about your senses and feelings whilst on your bubble journey.  Remember to include:

  • capital letters
  • full stops
  • phonics
  • finger spaces
  • neat handwriting

Cheeky Challenge: If you could go on a journey on a bubble, where would you go?  Use your imagination, the bubble could take you anywhere!

I have set Chapter 5 of Anna’s Sports Day on Purple Mash to read and complete a quiz.

Maths Home Learning

We are going to start today by watching and joining in with our counting in 2s song.  After this please write down the numbers up to 100 counting in 2s independently.

Today in maths we are going to be focusing on counting in 2s, another name for this is multiplication or the 2 times table.  Please watch the video on the White Rose website:

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/

When counting in 2s we only use even numbers, meaning they can always be split into equal groups.

Here is your activity for today.  Remember you can use equipment around your house to support your learning and counting.

Cheeky Challenge: Make up your own problem with pairs of boots.

Topic Home Learning

Following on from your brilliant work on your favourite seaside last week, I want you to think about your senses.  Imagine you are stood on your favourite beach at the moment, think about:

  • what you can feel
  • what your can smell
  • what you can hear
  • what you can see
  • what you can taste

Some of you may have not visited the seaside, so hear are some pictures and a video to help you imagine.

Your topic activity today is to write about the different senses at the seaside.  This activity is to be done on Purple Mash and is set as a 2Do.

Art Home Learning

In school we are in our Lawley bubble and we will be doing bubble art this week.  To be able to complete our bubble art we need to make our own bubbles.  Today I would like you to follow the instructions on the video to make your own.  Have fun!

Have a good day Lawley and stay well and safe.
