Tuesday 16th June Home Learning

Good morning Lawley!

I hope you are all well. Here are our home learning activities for today.

Reading and Phonics

Please carry out your daily reading and complete a book review. Next, please join in with the daily Read Write Inc Set 3 Phonics session on YouTube.

I would then like you to have a game of Picnic on Pluto on the Phonics Play website, revising all set 3 sounds.

English Home Learning

Please start by listening or reading our book of the week, The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister.

Today we are going to be creating our own Rainbow Fish.  I would like you to draw the outline of your fish, then decorate it.  You can use colouring crayons, create a collage with paper and material, paint, or something else.  Once you have created your own Rainbow Fish I would like you to write a sentence to describe it.  I would like you to include:

  • What does your Rainbow Fish look like?
  • What does your Rainbow Fish feel like?
  • What does your Rainbow Fish smell like?
  • What does your Rainbow Fish sound like?
  • What can your Rainbow Fish taste when swimming deep in the ocean?

As always, please remember to use:

  • capital letters
  • full stops
  • phonics
  • fingers spaces
  • neat handwriting

Cheeky challenge: Describe how the other fish feel when they see the Rainbow Fish.

I have set an activity based on Chapter 1 of Little Red on Purple Mash for you to complete.

Maths Home Learning

To start with please watch and join in with our months of the year song, then independently write down each month of the year, remembering to use your phonics.

Today we are going to be looking at doubles.  Doubles are when you are adding two of the same number together, for example:

double 2 is 4 or 2 + 2 = 4

Watch the video on the White Rose website to support your learning for today.

Here are our activities to be completed based on doubles.  You can use resources from around your house to help you with this, such as coins, teddies, pens.

Cheeky Challenge: Play the doubles game, time yourself to see how quickly you can complete the game!

RE Home Learning

Our focus is RE this term is Special Books.  We have looked at the meaning and importance of special books, and last week you looked more in depth at The Bible, which is the special book of Christians.

Today we are going to focus on the Torah Scroll.  This is the Jewish holy book and is a very special book to the Jewish religion.  Your activity today is to carry out research on the Torah Scroll.  I would like you to answer the following questions:

  • What is the Torah Scroll?
  • Why is the Torah Scroll so important to the Jewish religion?
  • How is the Torah Scroll set out and presented?
  • Can you find any more information about the Torah Scroll?

Cheeky Challenge: Create your own Torah Scroll, can you write your name on this?

PE Home Learning

Today in PE we are going to continue with Move to the Beat following on from last week, but today it is an extravaganza!  Watch the guidance video and read the card before you start.

Have a good day Lawley, stay well and safe.
