Wednesday 17th June Home Learning

Good morning Lawley!

I hope you are all well. Here are our home learning activities for today.

Reading and Phonics

Please carry out your daily reading and complete a book review. Next, please join in with the daily Read Write Inc Set 3 Phonics session on YouTube.

I would then like you to have a game of Dragon’s Den on the Phonics Play website, revising all phase 4 sounds.

English Home Learning

Please start by listening or reading our book of the week, The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister.

Today you are going to think of a different rainbow animal.  Have a think about the Rainbow animal you might choose, this might be a Rainbow Dog, a Rainbow Cat, a Rainbow Bird, or a Rainbow Butterfly.

I would like you to describe your Rainbow animal, using adjectives so I know exactly what it looks like.

Next I would like you to write about the journey of your Rainbow animal, telling me what happens, where it goes and who it might see.  You are going to write about what happens to them.  Remember to always include:

  • capital letters
  • full stops
  • phonics
  • finger spaces
  • neat handwriting

Cheeky Challenge: Why have you chosen this animal?

I have set an activity on Purple Mash based on Chapter 1 of Little Red.

Maths Home Learning

To start with please watch and join in with our number bonds song.  When this has finished, please write down all number bonds to 10 independently.

Today in Maths we are going to be looking at making equal groups by sharing.  This means that we share the objects out equally.  First of all watch the video on the White Rose website.

Remember whilst working through our maths session you can use any equipment or resources you may have at home.  This could be coins, sweets, pencils, Lego.

Here are our activities for today all based on making equal groups through sharing.

Cheeky Challenge: Write your own number sentence for making equal groups.  Ask someone in your household to solve the problem to check it works.

Topic Home Learning

On Monday you designed your own home for a Hermit Crab, making sure it was strong, waterproof and suitable for a Hermit Crab to live and survive in it.  Today you are going to make the home.  You are to use any resources you have at home to make your Hermit Crab home, being as creative as possible.  Ideas are using:

  • recycling
  • cardboard
  • Lego
  • playdough
  • baking

These are just a few ideas, be imaginative and have fun!  Remember to use your plan and design from Monday’s lesson.

Cheeky Challenge: Did you plan and design work successfully? How could you make it even better next time?

PSHE Home Learning

We are looking at being healthy this half term and to continue with these today we are going to be looking at eating healthy.  It is so important to eat healthy to make sure our bodies stay well and healthy.

Today I would like you to design a healthy lunch plate, thinking about the healthy foods we should eat regularly to keep us strong.

Treats are important to have, but they must stay as treats and not be eaten all the time due to high levels of fat and sugar.

Cheeky Challenge: What treat would you like to have for pudding?

Have a great day Lawley, stay well and safe.
