Monday’s Home Learning

Good morning Nursery children and families,

I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend.

Our theme this week is going to be ‘bubbles’. The children who have returned to school are in small groups or ‘bubbles’ and so this theme is very appropriate and will be continued with them too.

First we are going to join in with mindfulness ‘bubble’ yoga:

Today I would like your child to use a bottle of bubbles or make some bubble solution and a wand. Talk about how many bubbles they blow at one time. Encourage your children to recite numbers, use number names, estimate how many bubbles they have blown. You can take turns blowing bubbles and count the amount of bubbles each other blows. Talk about which bubble travels the furthest, the highest and how long they take to pop.

Bubble Mixture

Makes 350ml
Prep 5 minutes

  • 50ml washing-up liquid (one part)
  • 300ml water (six parts)

1. Measure the washing-up liquid into a container, such as a jam jar or glass bottle.

2. Slowly add in the water, being careful not to create too many bubbles at this stage. Gently stir the mixture together to combine.

3. If you can, let the bubble mixture rest before using it, as it will make your bubbles even better.

4. When you’re ready, dip your bubble wand into the mixture and start blowing bubbles!

Homemade bubble wands

If you don’t have a wand from a store-bought pot of bubbles, don’t despair! You can have fun by looking for different items around the house that can be used to make bubbles. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Straws
  • Biscuit cutters
  • Pipe cleaners

Using the animal bubble picture ask your child what each animal is and the noise it makes. Place the pictures onto the floor. Ask your child to stand on the…..name the animal, stand on the animal which makes the sound………, describe an animal for them to stand on.

To extend this activity you can print out or draw the letters of the alphabet on bubbles and ask your child to stand on the letter a, b, c etc (remembering to say the letter sound). They may even be able make their name using the bubble letters or make simple words
