Dear Parent/Carer
Good to be Green
We are introducing ‘Good to be Green, Great to be Gold’ a positive behaviour scheme in our KS1 and Reception classes.
Every child starts their day on a positive note with a green card displayed in their pocket of the Class Chart. The card says- ‘It’s Good to be Green!’ and the children soon learn to associate being on Green with a feeling of having done the right thing.
If, during the day, a child has to be reminded about their behaviour they will be given a ‘Stop and think!’ card which allows them to reflect and change their behaviour.
Should a pupil need to be warned of inappropriate behaviour, or has broken a class rule, then a Yellow Warning Card will be displayed over the top of the Green card. The warning gives the child the opportunity to reflect, consider and review their behaviour with the aim of returning to a Green card. If a child is already on a Yellow Warning Card, and they have to be told again of inappropriate behaviour, then there are consequences and the child would have a Red Consequence Card displayed in their pocket.
Equally, pupils who display good learning behaviours will have the opportunity to be rewarded, including notes home to let parents and carers about good behaviour. ‘Great to be Gold’ rewards will also be given to those pupils who consistently show good learning behaviours.
I do hope there will be lots of support from home for this great scheme and as always if you have any questions please speak to your child’s class teacher.
