On Tuesday 17th December Holy Trinity CE Primary Academy invited residents from New Fairholme, Woodland and Brook House residential homes to join them for an afternoon of Christmas activities. Staff at Holy Trinity thought it would be nice to offer their elderly friends in the community the chance to get out and experience a little bit of school life at Christmas.
As a church school, the children had been focusing on ‘Love and Service’, as one of our Christian values in school. Festivities started as the staff and children welcomed the residents to school and escorted them to the hall ready for the afternoon to begin. The Nursery, Reception and KS1 children started proceedings singing songs from their production of ‘A Midwife Crisis’ whilst our visitors enjoyed mince pies and refreshments. Year 3 children spent time colouring Christmas pictures and chatting to our visitors. The children from Year 4 paid a visit to the hall to make ‘Christingles’, Year 5 children had made truffles and presented them in a hand made gift box with a poem about Christmas. Finally, Year 6 finished off the afternoon with some Christmas carols.
The afternoon ended with all the visitors being given a little Christmas party bag from school containing a Christmas card, tree decoration and some sweets as a memento of their visit
